DOT prepares for influx of 3M visitors

THE Department of Tourism through its 15 domestic regional offices led by Undersecretary Oscar P. Patabyab of Tourism Services and Regional Offices (TRSO) begun preparations for the anticipation influx of more than 3 million visitors through various social infrastructure projects.

This was the announcement made by Undersecretary Palabyab in a press statement issued following the 3rd Quarterly Regional Directors Meeting on August 22-24 at Fort Ilocandia, Laoag City.

Palabyab said that one of the preparations now in place is the continuing dialogue and consultations with the heads of marketing teams of the department which handle off-shore marketing campaigns in such major foreign markets like North America, Asia Pacific, Europe, China, Korea and Japan. Constant updates on attractive tour packages and new destinations in various parts of the country are now on the drawing board to produce more promo collateral for distribution abroad.

The North Philippines cluster, for instance, comprising Codillera, Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, and Central Luzon, will soon come up with its own set of promotional brochures to position this part of the island as the land of adventure, culture and nature. The marketing teams are expected to sell the North Philippines in their sales missions all over the world.

To keep pace with the fastest growing information technology resources, TRSO decided to make its presence felt on the world wide web by posting on the Internet and all-in-one web site that features all the 15 regional destinations, tour packages, tourist facilities, visitors statistics including festivals and special events. The design and development of the latest web site, under the domain name www.visitmyphilippines.com, was handled by Regional Director Ronaldo Toituico of Central Luzon region.

The regional directors and the heads of marketing teams ended their quarterly meeting with a strong commitment that the former will ensure quality services at the regional level including availability of tour packages and that the latter will continue to promote each of the 15 destinations in various missions abroad.
